Life Is Too Short...

A phrase heard all too often these days is "Live is too short..."  The general implication is that life is too short to avoid eating, drinking, or doing things that might harm you, but are a distinct and satisfying pleasure to eat, drink, or do.  In addition, most people fancy they will eventually expire like hitting a light switch.  On one second, off the next.  Unfortunately, the reality is that a large percentage of people will suffer years or decades of declining physical and mental health increasingly jacked up on drugs, which only treat symptoms, usually very poorly, until they fade away drooling into their Ens*re in a nursing home, bed-ridden, senile, incontinent, and wracked by cancer and/or debilitating autoimmune conditions.

For those so afflicted, life is not short but rather much too long.  The old maxim "Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die." is perhaps understandable for twenty year-olds facing combat, but wretched advice for everyone else who are quite likely to slooowly expire fifty years later a pathetic helpless  physical and mental wreck.  Heck of a trade-off.  Choose wisely.
